Good Evening everyone,
Today, I saw my endocrinologist to make sure that (1) I am doing everything right; (2) check hormone levels; (3) because my nutritionist suggested it. I went to Raleigh Endocrine Associates, and saw Dr. Joseph Rand. What a treat! I was already so excited, because I was doing something for myself. His staff was very personable, engaging, and just cool people. I think we all laughed more than anything. I can get very animated, when I am excited about something. My eyes start to break dance in my head. Any who, I found that I am doing a lot of things right. My vitamin D levels are more than likely really low. I’ll get the results on Friday. Once we have determined what Dr. Rand suspects, we will move forward in getting my levels up. As far as the other hormone checks, he feels that we should wait until my vitamin D levels are up, as they can seriously skew my results. I will go back in 5 weeks for labs and meet with Dr. Rand for results the week after. He also explained that really low vitamin D levels can cause weight gain, or an inability to lose weight.
The vitamins I am taking are fine. I will not add anything extra. I also learned that I am not eating enough. I felt that I was, because I was ‘grazing’ throughout the day. “Cows graze, not people”, he said. LOLOL So, I will begin to complete better meal planning that are on a schedule, which I had not been doing. I figured that if I am eating something, and it’s healthy, I am okay. No, I am not feeding my body enough to loss the weight. JJ Smith explains it in her Losing Weight Without Dieting and Exercise book as placing the body in starvation mode, which makes it want to hang on to its fat.
The most amazing part about Dr. Rand, he respected the process I am doing, as it’s an all natural process and approach. He gave me some great tips about ‘breaking up the monotony’, which was variety, variety, variety. Examples such as, trying different sweeteners to flavor my green tea, such as a berry or cherry juice, instead of honey. Who knew? I also eat too many eggs. I need to cut back to no more 3 boiled eggs a week; however, I can have egg whites. I am down for that! I will get to try some of the other recipes JJ gave us, using just the egg whites. He suggested me to try other fish as well, which I am extremely hesitate about. However, I said I’d try it. I am a catfish girl.
I went to Harris Teeter to pick out a good fish, since the butcher’s knows my name (shame I know), and something amazing happened. I speak with the butchers about the fish, freshness, and preparation every time I go in there. Don’t sleep on your butchers, because they can give you all sorts of ideas. They didn’t have any fresh Halibut in, so Robert suggested a frozen Halibut. That fish was $17 dollars. I was like what in the… So, he gave it to me for free. LOL No lie! That should let you all know how much I spend in there. Harris Teeter is not cheap; however, they have the best stuff, and in my opinion instrumental to my weight loss success. I just need to start clipping coupons! LOL
